KU TRANSPORT PROBLEM

Thousands of Karachi university students face immense problems in reaching the campus, due to acute shortage of university buses. Presently, there are just 27 points to cater the needs of some 28000 students and teachers and the university urgently requires at least 80 more buses to facilitate its students, faculty and non-teaching staff. We students face a lot of problems in these hot days.

Rickshaws available in and around the university demand a lot of money to drop us at our department. For example we are student of Mass Communication and our department is very far from silver jubilee gate and we have to pay this money to the rickshaw driver. We are facing immense hardship due to non-availability of sufficient transport facilities because of administrative failure despite fees of all faculties being raised 10% every year.
Transport department of Karachi University say that only 45 points are present in transport depot, of which only 26 points are in running condition. The source said six out of order point buses including one affected in a road accident could not be repaired for the last one year.

I am writing to draw attention of the administration of Karachi University to the lack of an efficient shuttle service within the university due to which students have to walk long distance. By the time they reach their classes, they are tired and cannot attend lecture with a fresh mind. It is not that the shuttle service is not there, but the number of shuttles is not sufficient and the timings are such that all of the students desirous of moving from one point to another cannot be accommodated. So the authorities take prompt notice of this issue, as it is a significant problem for most of the students of Karachi University.
