Abundance

People may find my obsession with the word ‘abundance’ when I talk about University of Karachi; abundance of cheap crowds, low rates, political parties and what not. Eventually I realized not using the word ‘abundance’ with the breed of dogs, snakes, squirrels, chameleons and other different kinds of animal which I am not aware of  to be found in the vicinity.

I am an animal lover; I have got 7 cats living in my house (sadly, my mom is not a dog person). But I would love to pet a dog as they are the most trustworthy living thing alive so far on this so-called human-dominant planet.

It was an addition to my excitement when I came across the never ending quantity of dogs and puppies. Where ever you go, whatever department you standing in, you will never lack the opportunity of finding these creatures around. Sometimes they act friendly by just barking at your back and causing no harm; majority of the times you may find them running after yourself, chasing bikes and barking without any reason to let you know that they also hold the power.

I have even heard people talking about their dates being ruined. No, it is not due to the political party Jamiat who holds this responsibility, but THE DOGS! Jamiat has had not only trained people studying but also the creatures present within the boundaries which can carry their burden. I solely pity the couples who go through this torture every now and then and still reluctant to it.

Isn’t it so adventurous to study at a place where everything is found in abundance? And still people criticize University of Karachi?! This could probably be the factor ‘jealousy’.

CAMPUS RADIO 90.6

The very own Karachi University’s campus radio  can be heard on the FM 90.6 megahertz frequency between 10pm to 11pm, within a radius of 15 to 18km. The entire cost of Rs4 million incurred on the setting up of the studio and its equipment had been borne by the university from its own resources (the news).

The campus station, set up at the university’s Department of Mass Communication. This campus radio 90.6 is being solely supervised by Professor Inam Bari Jafri of the Department of Mass Communication, while its content is being produced by the students exclusively .The campus radio is basically a type of radio station that is run by the students of a Mass Communication. Campus radio 90.6 carry the variety of programmes including news (often local), sports (often relating to the campus), airing bulletins in both English and Urdu, besides presenting documentaries relating to social, cultural, literary and educational activities taking place in and around the campus. The M.A. (Final) students are primarily producing the bulletin while the rest of the department is involved in making other programmes.

Being a campus radio, it is non-commercial and its range is limited to 15 kilometers, thus restricting its listener ship to a small portion of the city around the varsity .It is not being properly heard in Defence , Clifton, Korangi and adjoining localities(the news). This is the sad part of the campus radio 90.6.

The campus radio 90.6 is the excellent platform for the students of mass communication who have the ambition of working in professional radio stations such as 100 fm, 103 mast fm or hot 105 fm as a presenter or r j or d j in future. Students gain lot of experience in working as a presenter at the campus radio 90.6.

DARKEST HORRIBLE SCENE OF KARACHI UNIVERSITY….!!!!!!

The University of Karachi boasts some 25,000 students enrolled in its evening and morning programmers combined. The students, majority of them girls, come from far-flung areas of the metropolis to attend the university. As well as Karachi University plays an important role in our education and provide us a standardized education.  Evening student pays a huge amount of fees compare to morning. But it Is very wrong to say that there are some major problems faces by us evening students like transport problem, water shortage problem, and now a days another problem faced by students that due to non availability of funds or any other problem street lights would not opened at their time like in the night due to which the beautiful way of silver jubilee gate looks like a horrible way. My point was that if it is a KESC problem then, where are generators? Why they are not playing their role in a proper way? Why the high commands of faculties are not used them for students as they know that the students are facing that type of problem? but they are not doing anything. On other hand If we observed NED UNIVERSITY we saw that the street lights of main route of Ned opened all the time, although Ned have not evening schedule or evening classes. Similarly, the main road of KU is called a very busy road, despite of this the main route which is from Azadi Chowk to silver jubilee road is completely dark from 6:00 pm to onwards and on that time most of the evening students are present in university.

Yesterday there was totally dark in Karachi University because light gone at 7:00 pm and onwards. We student have a paper and we faced very difficulty in low light which was available by generators. And the beautiful way today also looks like horrible..!!

Sometimes a question arises in my mind that where we are?? What we do?? These are very little problems but It creates tensions in our mind, so we student becomes frustrated. And we are not able to study well..
Our youth becomes destroy..!!

Please it is my request to higher faculties to do some greater work on those problems….!!

Tips to climb up the hills!

I believe, through my experience, that there is an evident need of student counseling in students. Students could excel higher grades not just in case of studies but also in case of practical life. Students must make sure that they have guiding principles of their own. I have some quick tips or guiding principles for students so that they can be effective in the long run. Here are some of the tips that could be followed by students for excelled productivity.
1.      Be Proactive: rather than reacting:
Always create a situation where you can be productive rather than just reacting on he complication of the situation.
2.      To begin with the end in mind:
People need to create a situation in mind and hen actually making it happen in reality.
3.      Put first thing first
Setting priority is the best implication that a student can learn.
4.      Win Win
Always plan a situation or working process in which you win and you help others win. In other words, it could be said that you should be able to win in whole team and not solely as an individual.
5.      Seek first to understand to be understood
It is imperative to make sure that you build understanding about yourself and also try to understand others. In this way people will be able to understand you.
6.      Synergy
Don’t loose the hope. Keep your spirits high as nothing comes easy.
7.      Sharpen the saw
Make yourself capable enough to understand take major decisions. Find your potentials at the first place.

Are you sure about what you claim?

Words such as credibility, source, context and reference are not just for the purpose of usage in dictionary but it rather stresses on the fact that something had been said and is factual. People every now and then claim statements without even knowing who said it and why it had been said. Such a situation leads into turmoil.

My last blog post for this month refers to a more influential thought It is to make sure that you use right words at right situation with credibility. Whether it is a classroom or you are conducting an interpersonal communication with your peers, it is most important that you really look into matters and then make a claim.

Developing understanding with the words such as credibility and source is most important for students of mass communication. I have witnessed many instances when I have saw my class peers had been exaggerating and over claiming things in a debate without any confirmed source and statistics. Moreover, if students submit assignments, there is no clue as to what book or article had been referred for the written content. This blog post is dedicated to all of them who are clueless about credibility.
I am attaching a link to a very useful guide below that could help students in understanding credibility and referencing.

Karachi University a Fantasy

As we enter the another world of learning heaven the paradise of professors and students the Karachi University, the  area with plantation on a very  angular scale throughout a civilized mannered. We found more excitement during the year around course period. While been earning education a student have to suffer from different aspect difficulties as a part of KU life.

One of which is the far distances of departments which becomes a terrific hectic for a student while they have attend a lecture at a 10 minutes notice time reach to the lecture hall of other dept let’s a student faces not only walking in the absurd climatic conditions but also hears good words from the professor or the lecturer for being late -10 points.

In spite of that other trouble which has to be noticed is availability of the computers in the computer labs during the free hours available to a student who wants surf for their project report. We  know that little resources were the honorary stage that led the student’s to survive in most critical situations in their lives but it seems to be utilization of those availed one resource in a righteous direction is today’s demand.

Is se sasti sirf khamoshi

Last week me and my class mates decided to bunk our practical journalism class and decided to go to eat something. It is our 4th semester and we never had a coincidence to go to a dhaba in KU popularly known as sufi dhaba so we decided to go there.we asked the boy for the days menu and he called the name of dishes a perfect dhaba must have :)

Choosing we ordered 4 plates of anda channa, 2 biryani, 2 nihari, a few nans and a jumbo mirinda. We were 11 and had enough food for the remaining day. We asked the boy for the bill he said its 350 something and when we divided each had an amount of 35rs or something like that, it was then when we all went in a shock like what the hell this is extremely affordable for students of every family class.

I will refer you all to go to Sufi and I also appreciate that KU has some good things left :)
